Top 8: Styles

When someone asks you what your style is, what would you say? Would you know what to say? Usually I say my style is a mixture of a lot of different things. I'd define my style as girly, glam, with an Edgy twist. Here are 8 styles that I find people fit into. Comment down below which number you are!

1. Edgy

Leather, army green, and grunge is the cry of the edgy generation. If you think "Edgy" is about wearing all black then you've got it wrong. Having an edgy style is about pushing the boundaries and mystery coming together to create a storm of fashion supremacy.

2.Girly

This style is about taking things you would wear as a child, and bringing them into modern day. Floral and pastel, and polka dots are the staples of this style. This style is easy to combine with others though.

3. Bohemian

I personally love the bohemian style and I wish I could incorporate more of it into my wardrobe. Bohemian is all about reflecting the beauty of the earth through your clothing. Whether this means earth toned colors or gorgeous flowers intricately braided into ones hair.

4. Men's Wear Inspired

This is a really cool trend and style. This style is really all about the cut and tailoring of the garments. I think this style is almost futuristic in a way. It is very rare that one can really pull of this style, but those who can, I commend.

5. Eclectic

To have an eclectic style is to pull inspiration from various different places and styles. Its the art of combining something and creating something completely new.

6. Vintage

Taking something from decades and decades past and creating a new and modern look is truly remarkable. This style is stunning and cute and I just love it!

7. Preppy

Golf Course chic is how I like to describe this style. Collared shirts, colored shorts, and monogrammed bags are definitely staples that define a prep.

8. Glam

This style is a mixture of edgy, girly, and fashionista. This style is all about taking formal attire down one notch and taking it to the streets. Who doesn't want to look fabulous all the time, AM I RIGHT?

Top Nine : High School Expectations VS Reality "Freshman Year":

Our summer count down is still in session and I'm sorry I didn't get to this yesterday, but it is currently 11:30 and I'm inspired so lets get to it. This expectations vs reality concept has been floating around YouTube for a while so I decided that I'd give it ago, but in a written form.

So I'm going to be an incoming high school Sophomore this year and I have to say freshman year, for the most part, was awesome and I will remember it for a long time. But lets be real, it was STRESSFUL. As I've previously mentioned I did go to a Performing Arts High School so my experience probably was a little different from the average, but I'm sure there are topics that carry through every high school environment.

1. The "Popular Crowd"
Expectation: There will be this one group of girls who always looks fabulous, is rich, has fancy cars, and is extremely rude and passive aggressive to every "non popular " individual. Then there's the group of super attractive males who play football that every girl fawns over.

Reality: The people who were considered popular at my school were usually seniors who were super advanced in their art, and were genuinely nice to people. It was cool, their were no mean girls who roamed the halls in slow-mo, or tossing of lunch, it was just people who loved what they did, and treated people like people.

2. The " High School Musical" Fantasy
Expectation: I would meet a guy at a ski resort before school started and we'd both change the social dynamic of the school ,and its various stereotypes would be crushed by our bravery and commitment to do what we loved while everyone broke out into musical numbers on the spot.

Reality: The guy part aside, I came in knowing only a few, made some great friends, and yes, sometimes we did break out into song and choreographed routines. What can I say, we were musical theater students.

3.The Look
Expectation: Every morning I'm going to wake up at 6:00 o'clock and take a shower and curl my hair. Then I'm going to make myself coffee and watch some tv. Then I will stroll up the stairs casually to finish my morning routine activities.

Reality: Oh MY GOODNESS! I woke up late again. Now I have to run downstairs grab my coffee and breakfast, bring it upstairs, blow dry my hair, throw something on, do a quick version of the makeup routine, run out the door and pray that I didn't forget anything.

4. Meeting the Guy Of My Dreams!
Expectation: I'll see him on the first day and just now that there is something special about him. Our eyes will lock and by the end of the year we are the couple that everybody " Awwwws" at.

Reality: no. Enough said

5. Going to Parties!
Expectation: There's a party and anybody who is anybody will be there. And I. have. been. invited!!! Now I have to find the perfect outfit, and grab my group of girls and dance the night away.

Reality: no. I did go to a Quincenera and a Masquerade ball so I think those were better than any high school party anyways. They were both a lot of fun and I learned a lot!

6. The Locker
Expectation: My locker is going to be spectacular this year. I'm going to get a white board, and a chandelier, and a locker rug. I need to start looking up Youtube videos for inspiration this minute!

Reality: In all honesty I didn't do one thing with my locker! No frills, no decoration, nothing.

7.Football Games
Expectation: The whole school will be there! I'm so excited! Even though I know absolutely nothing about football I think this is an essential part of my high school experience!

Reality: My school didn't have sports. If you wanted to do any outside activities you had to sign a contract with both school ensuring your work at both would not decline.

8. The supplies
Expectation: I know I say I want cute supplies but I think I probably should go with a simple color coded system that will keep me organized and will ensure success !

Reality: I actually went out and bought almost the entire Teen Vogue School Supply section and
I DON'T REGRET IT!

9.Social Life
Expectations: I'm going to hang out with my friends every single weekend. It will be a blast. We will go out to get frozen yogurt and hang out at the mall.

Reality: Social Life, what is that? I've never heard of such a thing. Don't you have rehearsal, don't you have a show coming up, don't you have homework, DO YOU SLEEP, ARE YOU SANE?

As you can see, my first year of high school didn't turn out exactly as expected but in all honesty, in the end it was a great year.

Summer Count Down: Top Ten

Its that time of year again where we count down the final days of summer before school starts. Even though the clock is ticking down ( and we rush to finish all summer assignments and summer adventures ) we still have one thing to accomplish...

My summer count down! Starting today with my....

Top Ten Ways to Change Your Look

Are you finding yourself constantly wearing the same outfit everyday? Okay maybe not the EXACT same outfit everyday because well... But you know what I mean? Sometimes I find myself going for the same thing over and over again because I know it works, and in theory that's a great idea but sometimes you've got to change things up! But how?

1. Try something new with your hair!
Yes I know this has nothing to do with your outfit, but It kind of does. I've found that a change in hairstyle can make an ordinary outfit become something totally new. I have naturally straight hair, so if I want something to be a bit more polished, I grab my curling wand and 20-30 minutes later magic happens!

2. When shopping try something on you NEVER would!
For a while I would go shopping and end up trying on five different white shirts, each only slightly different than the next. I realized that I needed to try something new. So I grabbed a pair of pattern pants and a 70's style flowy shirt will bell sleeves and just went for it. Granted I looked completely ridiculous, but it is important to branch out because ( unlike my case) you might end up finding your new look.

3. Ditch The Skinnies!
The minute winter hits I find myself in dark wash denim skinny jeans almost every single day! In my defense it was freezing where I lived and I had to travel outside through the downtown area! And while skinny jeans have their benefits there are OTHER OPTIONS! "You can't wear a dress in the winter!" one might say. Let me tell you something: fleece line leggings.

4. Pinterest Binge
I have found Pinterest to be an extremely helpful style tool. Make a new board with styles you'd like to try, grab a friend, and just go for it! If you just type in teen fashion and the season, the many many pinners out there will guide you to your style dreams :)

5. Eat Better
Sometimes its not your style that needs a makeover, but your body. Eating better will make you FEEL excessively better. I have a problem digesting things with heavy fat contents like whole milk, ice cream, extremely greasy fried chicken, and others. And while I LOVE TO EAT THOSE THINGS WITH A PASSION they make me feel HORRIBLE. I'm telling you the minute you cut things out of your diet that make you feel bad,  it makes all the difference.

6. Change One Thing About Your Makeup Routine
If your bored with your makeup routine, change one thing. Whether this mean grabbing an eyeliner pencil and trying some new shapes, or going for a bold lip instead of a complicated eye routine, this will give you some new variety and excitement in your morning routine.

7. Strip it Down to the Basics
For some of us the problem is not getting lazy with our looks but over accessorizing. Try simplifying your routine. Find outfits that very basic so your love for accessorizing doesn't clash with your FABULOUS outfit.

8.Do a Style Swap
Grab a friend with an opposite style to your yours and do a style swap. I did this with my friend Bethany and it was super, super fun! You and your friend separate for a good 10 minutes and you each pick outfits that you would wear and then when you get to the dressing rooms you swap selections and have fun!

9. Change your attitude
This is a big one for me. If you want to make a change, with your look, sometimes the underlying problem could be the way your feeling. If you want to change your look because you think that it's the only way to be noticed or the only way to feel better, its not. Can it be a huge confidence booster, finding your style and such? Yes, yes it can. But you have to love yourself and your insides first before a change in style will really even matter. Find one way to make a change. For me I really need to work on how I treat my siblings.

10. Work It!
Whatever you find you like to wear, you just got to work it!

When Life Gives You Lemons...

girl power quotes tumblr - Google Search

Here's the Thing:

Unpleasant things are going to happen in life. We are all human. We say nasty things, we commit awful actions, and underestimate the power of the things we do. They say not to judge a book by its cover, and even though it has been drilled into our brains since we were children, we still do it.

Friends are going to disappoint you at some point. Your siblings, your parents, your pets, will get on your last nerves. You're going to get cold. You're going to get a bad grade.

But this moment, this second, this minute ,is going to come and be over and you will never live in that moment again. NEVER. It will never, ever re- appear ( unless time travel becomes a thing). We need to understand that this place, its only temporary. Whatever you are facing right now, take a deep breath, and remember that YOU ARE SO LOVED! You are beautiful, and talented, and you have so much life to live. I love you all so much <3

NYC 2015, Coca-Cola, and Aquarium

Everybody I'm Back! I've missed you *virtual hugs to all*!

It seems like I haven't blogged in ages. But I'm back and I have a lot to share about what I did while I was gone, it has been one crazy adventure.

NYC 2015

Embedded image permalinkRecently I went to the Nazarene Youth Convention in Louisville,Kentucky and it was an amazing experience! It will stay with me forever and I'm so, so happy that I went. I flew back home and traveled with my district. First we stopped off in Ohio to stay at the Great Wolf Lodge and got to ride some pretty sweet rides. The next day we went White Water Rafting which was awesome except it was raining the entire time :(, but we did get into a splash battle with another raft which was hilarious until we realized just how wet we got. Then it was time to bus off to Louisville to meet with 7000 other Nazarene Christians and worship God together through AMAZING MUSIC by groups such as Harbour, LECRAE, Rend Collective, and for King and Country! After this experience I am finally able to say I have been to a concert! God really showed up and did some amazing things <3 I miss all my friends from home already and if your reading this- THERE AINT NO LEMONS TO MAKE ORANGE JUICE ON THE SUN :)

( yes I know that sounds insane, its an inside joke)

The World of Coca-Cola and Georgia Aquarium

My friend Bethany and I took a trip to Atlanta, Georgia to have a girls day at The World of Coca-Cola and The Georgia Aquarium. If your thinking about going to either IT IS SO WORTH IT.  Both attractions are highly recommended by myself and I am so excited to go again in the future. We invested in City Passes so we could go to both with little waiting time and we could go to both in one day.

EMBARRASSING STORY TIME:
While at the Aquarium, Bethany and I attended their musical Dolphin show. It was good and entertaining, a little cheesy, but none the less it was good. After it was over we proceeded to exit arena. If you have ever seen a water show, you know there is a splash zone. We were told to hold on to the bar so we wouldn't slip on the wet stairs...

I WIPED OUT! On my butt, in front of everyone. Everyone was asking me if I was okay and I just couldn't stop laughing. A long time okay I would have cried, but now I'm so used to falling over everything I have to laugh it off.

Into It or Over It: Matching Sets

Taylor Swift ,one of my major style icons, has brought this trend back into the forefront and I have to say, I think I like it! Matching sets are super easy, which makes them great for summer style. They are chic, classy, and along with being a set you could also take the top and bottom component and just as easily pair it with something else.

They are fashionably functional and who doesn't like that! What I also like about this trend is, it gives the eye a little bit more to comprehend then a dress. It is quite intriguing. If you can't tell already I am definitely INTO IT.

This is one of my favorites:

5 Things To Do On a Rainy Day

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqjgkWl94d_1pQZTmrbIC67yrgvUgaB1hhyphenhyphenQGqqTi2ICpodQ4pXYQZH-QLShIByyDJlPTkmPP5B563MBt_pxkLSklLk-4hvGSJPQjc6BEtxROMhNVfo_9fqzmS7E9tdPTZV6qDx7Obs9E/s1600/RainyDay.jpg
Nothing bums out big summer plans like an unexpected rainy day! But sometimes rainy days can be some of the best days to take a step back and just enjoy some alone time. Instead of feeling stuck take the opportunity to do something to get in touch with yourself and your family.

1. Read a Book
http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mczxin2pGh1r7ebg2o1_500.gif
Nothing makes me feel more accomplished than reading a whole book in one day. I finally got the go ahead to start reading the Harry Potter Series ( to the one friend I know will be excited when she reads this) so next opportunity to go to a book store, that's where Ill be heading.

2. Do something creative!
DIYS/ Do it yourself can be a great project to do when the sun is not cooperating. Just go to town with it and make it your own. Bethany Mota always has really cool DIY's on her channel as well as many other Youtubers. You can also find cool DIY ideas on Pinterest.

3. Bake
http://25.media.tumblr.com/327dd6131cb1ee04cc979d3af5ae976c/tumblr_mx9rooLvoa1s30ko5o1_500.gif
I have this one friend who always bakes when they're stressed, but I say it also works while your stuck in the house. I know for a fact that the sweet and GLORIOUS aroma of chocolate chip cookies is always soothing to the soul :)

4. Watch A Movie/ Find a New Series

I recently went on Netflix to watch one of my favorites movies " Can't Buy me Love", and it was. not. there!

http://staticfiles2.outreachinc.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/surprise2.gif

After I awoke from the shock I decided to browse for a new movie to fill the void and I found this awesome movie called "After the Ball". It was a modern cinderellaish spin off about a fashion designer who goes in disguise into her family fashion business to uncover her stepmother and stepsisters evil plans to destroy it. It was great.

5. Discover New Outfits, Makeup looks, and Hair Styles

This is one of my personal favorites. A lot of the time during the school year I tend to be drawn to the outfits I immediately know will work and lose a lot of my creativity. So while your watching your movie, pull some pieces from your closet and see what works together. Who knows maybe you will find your new favorite outfit!
