Fashion is Art

I feel like around the world people have the wrong perception of beauty and fashion. Society has labeled the fashion world as a vain world with girls who are obsessed with how they look and wanting other people's acceptance  . For some people that might be true, they use fashion and makeup and all these other things to gain support so they feel accepted in our society. And thats really sad, not saying that in like its sad in a pathetic way, but sad in the fact that people are judged in how they look. Obviously the saying goes "Don't judge a book by its cover" but honestly thats just human nature. First impressions are everything. Even though fashion and beauty is used in this way, thats not the whole story. Fashion is art, the canvas is a human being not a piece of paper. The clothes are the artist's medium. If we could just realize this simple fact it would change our perspective on the fashion world. Yes, it may be true that this world has been corrupted and misleaded but to its core it is art. Fashion is beautiful and its not easy.

Beauty guru's on youtube get slammed all the time on their videos with comments like " everyone is beautiful in there own way, why are you making them feel like they're not" and " you're so vain". This may be true and I do believe that everyone is beautiful inside and out. However why slam them? Makeup and fashion, at least for me, gives me confidence.  Being put together everyday makes me feel on top of the world. I am looking for acceptance from the human race, but not so intently that it corrupts me and my life. The reason it doesn't corrupt me is because I realized that fashion and beauty is art. It is not something that is needed, it is a gift, it is a passion, it is a desire. Fashion is beautiful and intricate and always changing and that is why I love it so much. And when I say that it gives me confidence I don't mean in the stupid arrogant kind of way. I mean that it gives me a sense of security and courageousness. I am ready for whatever life throws at me because I no longer have a constant fear of being judged.

Think about this. What if everyday we could go outside the house looking like a million bucks and not get comments from people about us "trying to hard" or 'shes so vain".  What if we were just confident in ourselves enough to express our own personal style, no matter how out there it was, no matter what genre its from. And people would just learn to accept one another beyond the brands and beyond the material things and accept each other for the creative aspects that they bring forth into the world. That's a world I want to live in.

#TGIF

It is finally the weekend and I'm basically free to do whatever I please!

That was a nice story right. But get this, its not fictional. This is the first time in forever ( frozen reference unintended) that I actually have a completely free weekend and I intend to spend some quality time with my BAE. Maleficent is out this weekend so my best friend and I decided to go see it. So I thought what a great opportunity to show you a great look for the Best Movie night ever!

What some of you may be thinking out there is, if its a movie and you're in the dark who cares what you look like. But honestly theres always at least some form of attractive human being at a movie. Its just how life works :)

Clothes:
The movies can get super cold so I throw on some super cute printed pants with some strappy sandals and a solid tee that accents the printed pants. Top it off with a super cute cardigan and small clutch and you're ready to go! ( Clothes from Charlotte Russe )

Hair: Do a Cute Fishtail
And Walla! You've Got the Cutest Movie DO Ever! <3 Stay Fabulous <3

Into It or Over It : TUTUS!

On today's installment of Into it or Over it I am posing one question: Really Tutus?
Courtesy of Pintrest: Tutu Skirts- Emily

Tutu skirt

Over It
I am all for breaking tradition in the world of fashion. From the reincarnation of 90's fashion to 80's style tribal print I was all for it but TUTUS!
I feel like the evolvement of fashion has gotten a lot more complex than that of when we were kids. This article from Teen Vogue(http://www.teenvogue.com/fashion/spring-trends/2014-05/tutu-skirts) is saying that you can wear a tutu past the age of five, however I honestly don't agree. Tutus give off such a juvenile vibe I honestly don't see how they could ever be considered elegant. I mean really who is gonna take you seriously in a tutu! <3 Stay Fabulous <3

Into it or Over it: Cotton Candy Strands

Into It!
Is Pink the new blonde? Everyone in the celebrity world sure thinks so! Cotton candy strands were super big this spring and I believe they will continue into summer. This hairstyle is a fun way to separate yourself from the crowd. However it is very ambitious and requires a lot of guts! It is  very feminine and soft. I love that its a cool color and doesn't give you that super punk vibe. Also if its done correctly It can look sort of natural. One of Teen Vogue's Models died her hair pink and her stylists can show you how you can do it just like hers! Just Visit the link down below!

I think I might even try it this summer! I would have to convince my parents first....

High Waist-ed Shorts

The return of High waist-ed shorts definitely took me by surprise. I have learned over the years that fashion styles often fluctuate, meaning that they come and go whenever they please. I was very skeptical about this trend at first because I knew they were something to be frowned upon a couple of years ago. However they have been taking the world by storm. These shorts definitely make a statement. I loved how they can be used to immediately class up a muscle tee or that band shirt that's been sitting in the back of your closet for ages. But we have to remember there is a right way and a wrong way to wear high waist-ed shorts.

Right Way:

Wrong way: Beware of the mom jean! Go for classy not trashy!

Fashion Icon of the Month

I have decided that every month I am going to honor one celebrity for being that months fashion Icon. This month's fashion icon is...Drum roll please!!!

Taylor Swift

Photo in the daily mail

While I may not be the biggest fan of her music, she has constantly being recognized for her killer sense of style this month. If spring had a covergirl it would definitely be her! She has the craziest ability to compine preppy, girly, and vintage all into her own style. She knows how to accessorize with out being excessive. I am giving her a huge thumbs up and the spot as my Fashion Icon of the Month!

HOLD THE PHONE!

Here is the Picture from Teen Vogue

Are Socks and Sandals Back In?

While casually scrolling through my daily dose of Teen Vogue and Seventeen Magazine online, I came across an article titled "How to Wear Socks and Sandals Without Looking Like a Tourist". And I was like, wait what?

Growing up I was always taught that socks and sandals were the forbidden footwear combination. If you ever walked out of the house wearing socks and sandals people were totally convinced that you just stepped out of the nineties. For example Cher from the movie Clueless ( btw great movie)!

So when I saw this article I said to myself " You've got to be kidding me!" However when I looked at the photos in the article I was stunned. The way that they styled their outfits with the socks and sandals looked so gorgeous and very chic.

I especially like the two on the left. You can play it chic and girly, or you can go edgy New Yorker. 'm not to fond of the girl on the right though. I feel like her wide and harsh black sandals clash with the vintage yellow dress. I could see what they were trying to accomplish, however its not really to my liking. maybe if the used a softer looking sandal to complement the dress, it would have really brought the outfit together.

For me personally, I don't know if I'd ever be daring enough to step out
and face the stereotypical views of socks with sandals, but I love the way Teen Vogue is testing the waters and trying to bring back this trend.

The Crop Top

My First Impression: What has the world come to?

When I first started seeing these famous "crop tops" walking the halls of my school I did not like what I was seeing. I didn't get it. The issue with the crop top, is that if it is not worn right, it can come off as very non-modest ( if you catch my drift). The crop top was being severely miss used. This garment was being used to " show off" in a negative way.  If we look closer at the crop top and how it should be used, it turns out to be a very stunning and modest garment.

Crop tops are made to accentuate a women's figure in an elegant way. When paired with high waist-ed shorts or a high waist-ed skirt, the crop top becomes the go-to in every girls everyday style. They literally could be paired with anything; maxi skirts, blazers, van's, sandals, ect.

These new innovations were even spotted at some of the top spring fashion shows in the business like Just Cavalli's.   I've also recently seen these garments on the red carpet, like Taylor Swift at the ACM's. Jennifer Lawerence has also been spotted numerous times  rocking this trend.

I never would have guessed that this trend would have such a major impact on today's society. I have to say however with all my doubts in the garment at the beginning, I am proud to say I am a BIG fan of the "crop top"

I Love Daisy

The Daisy Trend

The daisy print has been popping up everywhere recently. It can be spotted on shorts, dresses, and even on headbands. Personally, my first impression on the trend was that it looked kind of juvenile. However after seeing it pop up so often, it really started to grow on me. So the question is why is this print so popular?

I saw the daisy print a few times last spring but it really didn't make its impact until this spring. There are a couple reasons I love this print so much. For starters its the PERFECT floral pattern. Its one of the few floral prints that don't SCREAM "grandma":)  Usually the print is displayed on black fabric giving it more of an edgy but girly look to it. I think another reason why I like this print so much is that my first impression of it made a lot of sense. This print is very youthful looking which is very good for the springtime. The spring is all about new life and youth which this print encompasses perfectly!!!

The daisy print is also very versatile. If you're going for more of a Bohemian look, this print is also perfect. I have recently spotted some of my classmates wearing daisy head bands that I have to say- if I may- were just " totally adorbs".  This headband paired with a flowing lace shirt and some strappy brown sandals give you a glowing and youthful look that, again, is just right for the springtime!
If your'e just as excited as me about " The Daisy Trend" stores like Charlotte Russe, Aeropostale, and many others have got you covered. These shorts were from Charlotte Russe.

The Problem

Spring is here! The problem is however I splurged on all winter and fall clothing and now I don't own many spring items. I know what you're thinking - "why don't you just go shopping?"
Sometimes you cant always drop everything and go shopping, especially in the month of May ( which is a crazy time for everyone). However, NOT ALL HOPE IS LOST! There are ways you can transition your out-dated winter style into something more springy. This way you don't need to splurge on a whole new wardrobe. So without further ado, here is!

My Guide to the Spring Style Swap!

Tip. 1 : Go into the light!
Pastels are totally I'm this spring. You can take the lighter colors in your wardrobe and incorporate them with a darker color to create a brighter look.
Tip 2: Lighten Up the Load
Winter time fashion is all about the layers. It's time to lighten up! Remove some of those layers. This gives you a fresh and open look, giving you a more inviting vibe!
Tip 3: Go Girly <3
Love is in the air ( its also an open door ;) and floral print is totally the rage. That sounded super eighties, but it's true!!!  Break out from your usually harsh edgy winter look. Get inventive with your hair. Accent braids and curls look especially girly. If you're having trouble lots of beauty guru's on YouTube have tons of videos on cool hair styles for spring.

Overall Tip: Keep It Light
I can not stress this enough! Spring is all about warmer temperatures and blooming flowers. Spring is a time to feel free! If you're in need of some style inspiration do what I do...
Search through Pinterest! If you're in to fashion but aren't always up with the current trends and want to know whats in, and whats out, it is so helpful. I highly recommend it !
